Biography

Jasmine Sandhu (she/her) is a multifaceted artist based in London, currently studying BA Fine Art at Kingston University. She works across a range of mediums, including painting, mixed media, photography, ceramics, bookmaking, and illustration.

“I paint feelings I cannot quite let go of, from the connections to those around us to the songs that I play on repeat. I express these ideas through mark-making and an understanding of colour deeply rooted in cross-cultural study, particularly South Asian art tradition, alongside practice-based and psychological research into intuitive art practice. Colour becomes relational to the concepts I depict; I often feel compelled to paint music, dissecting different sounds and instruments relating them to colours and movement. While my process is mostly intuitive, it is informed by my life and identity, positioning my art as a form of self-reflection. My paintings become a way of preserving experiences, expressing them through how they feel to me rather than how they appear visually.”
